1. Start Party Planning Early

 

FOUR TO SIX WEEKS BEFORE THE PARTY:

1. Decide on a Party Theme.
2. Make a guest list.
3. Make a tentative schedule of party activities.
4. List all supplies needed.
5. Choose invitations, decorations and favors.
6. Plan party menu.
7. Order online: or purchase from stores: invitations, thank you notes, postage and party favors.

 

TWO TO THREE WEEKS BEFORE PARTY:

1. Purchase from stores: invitations, thank you notes, postage and party favors.
2. Purchase party supplies.
3. Order cake from bakery if not making your own.
4. Arrange for extra help if needed.
5. Mail or drop off invitations.

ONE WEEK BEFORE PARTY:


1. Confirm any orders for cake or supplies
2. Bake cake and freeze it, if making your own.
3. Write out a final schedule of activities for party.
4. Make any foods that can be made ahead of time and store in freezer.

TWO-THREE DAYS BEFORE PARTY:

1. Buy or order any remaining food for the party.
3. Check batteries in camera.
4. Get an exact guest count. Tally responses and call those who have not responded.

 

ONE DAY BEFORE PARTY:

1. Finish decorating cake or pick up the cake from bakery.
2. Child proof party area.
3. Decorate any indoor areas of party. (Do not decorate outside area until day of the party. Overnight weather can damage decorations.
4. Prepare any "Do-Ahead" food.
5. Put together party favors in loot bags for each guest.

THE DAY OF THE PARTY:

1. Prepare or pick up the rest of the food.
2. Decorate outside area.
3. Mark the outside of the house or party area with balloons or a sign.
4. Keep your schedule of the party handy.
